Marina and Quilt Shop

After getting all the chili into our crockpot, I quickly got ready to meet the girls for an outing at the Quilt shop in Rockledge. Joan, Tammy,Georgette, Marcy and I had a ball picking out fabric for our magical placemat and pot holders project we will be sewing at the Community Center next week. We had a ball picking out fabrics and all ended up buying basically the same patterned material.

Since the weather forecast doesn't look too promising for the next couple of days, it will be an ideal time to get together, sew and share ideas.

Guy, on the other hand was anxious to attend the opening of a new Marina at the Port. Blue Points is offering only $11.00/per foot...and $850. yearly charge for the lift (everyone keeps their boat out of the water when not in use) plus they meter for water and electricity....

We both were able to enjoy our passions plus the wonderful Florida 80 degree weather.

Ain't life grand???

The big Chili cookoff

It's Saturday and we haven't had a chance to get our breathe yet!

Guy signed us up for the Big Chili Cookoff at the Elks Lodge! (big surprise) He doesn't cook and I don't like Chili so what are the odds? After his morning walk, we got busy and started chopping, saute-ing and adding ingredients, putting it into the crockpot to slowly cook for the day....I took pictures of it as we went along....just in case...we ever wanted to make it again.....but, what are the chances of us wanting to do that???

Well.....lo and behold....we took 2nd place!!!! I was so surprised (and so was Guy)...but now I'm worried that will just edge him on again to another challenge!!!

2 couples from our Condo came down to support us and enjoy all the chili's.
Tammy,Joe, Georgette and Dick...

After the voting and eating we played a couple games of Bingo and then headed home to watch Andrew playing (Colby-Sawyer) at UNE for the Championship which was being streamlined on our computer.....We were sooooo proud of Andrew...he played quite a game, scoring 10 points, while wearing a cast, due to an ankle injury he's been suffering throughout the season. They lost 79-90 and can hold their heads high playing with a fight right to the last second. We felt really badly for Andrew, as it was his last college basketball game.

Rick's Family's visit

Thursday Feb. 19th was the last day for the kids' visit. Debbie and I went over to Cocoa Beach to do a little vacation shopping, while the kids enjoyed the last day at the pool. They fished for a while off the walkway and then dunked in the great warm pool. We brought them to the airport and were sad to see them leave....but were cheered up thinking about their return visit in November...

Florida Quilt Show

Saturday I went to the Florida Quilt Show in Titusville with a group of the Ladies from Solana Lakes. It was a fun day.....after taking in all the booths and beautiful quilts, we stopped at the Titusville Bakery and then went to lunch.

These pictures were a couple of my favorite quilts.....

First bike accident!

Sunday 2/22

It was such a beautiful morning we were able to enjoy breakfast on the balcony.
In the afternoon we took a bike ride over to the Port to enjoy the beautiful sunny Florida weather. We stopped at Mulligan's to enjoy the entertainment at the Tiki Bar. We then biked home where I decided I could manuveur between the gates, but forgot the newly installed mirror on my bike made it too close for comfort! Down I went, scraping both my knees and hand....I was more concerned about the audience I may have created with my clumsiness than my pain!

Headed to No. Ft.Myers on Monday 23rd

On Monday we travelled over to the West Coast to visit with Carol and Sid for a couple of days. After a great evening meal, we caught up on news and relaxed.

Tuesday after visiting a huge Flea Market and Bell's Clearance Store, we took a ride up the coast to Sarasota and Long Boat Key to see the beautiful white sandy beaches....only to discover that since they had been there 10 plus years ago, the development of the area left only a few sparse public areas left. It was still a beautiful spot. Along the way, we saw a replica of the famous scene of the sailor returning home after WW2 at Times Square. We stopped at Carrabba's, a wonderful Italian restaurant, for an enjoyable meal....it was a fun day!

Getting caught up...

Wednesday 25th

We drove back home after spending time at a wonderful Farmers Market in Ft,Myers. We loaded up on fresh tomatoes, cukes, peppers etc. for a very reasonable price.
Guy was initiated into the Elks at 7PM and now is a member of the local chapter.

Pictures of Sunday

I'm still having trouble downloading pictures and being able to put text next to it, so I'm going to try it this way, until I figure it all out....

Rick, Deb, Hannah and Spencer arrived late Saturday night and were delighted with the warm temps (even though it actually was a little on the chilly side). We got back to the Condo about 11:30 and after checking out the unit and whatever they could see of the grounds in the dark, we all settled in for the night.

Sunday we got up and the sun was shinning and the kids were so excited. We headed right out to the heated pool right after breakfast. They swam and used the Hot Tub and after literally dragging them out of the pool, we changed and took a tour of the area on foot. We ended up at Jetty Park and they surveyed the are....

After lunch we took a ride into the port, checked out a couple of the surfing shops and ended up at the Port to see a few of the cruise ships leave. Spencer was so excited to hear the Disney ship's special horn "Wish Upon A Star".

After dinner, we went back out to the pool and Hot Tub area and enjoyed the facilities until after 10PM.

The Linscott's have arrived!

Deb, Rick, Hannah and Spencer arrived last night and we had a great picture but for some reason, I can't download pictures! Yuk!!!

This morning we have already swam in the pool and jumped in the Hot Tub....We're regrouping and will spend the day getting acquainted with the area. Hopefully, later on, we can download some photos!
