Our day at Daytona

Today we drove up to Port Orange to meet Joyce and Jerry.
It turned out to be a beautiful, warm, sunny day....temps in high 60's
We drove over to Daytona and went to lunch at Auntie Catfish's, a very popular
local restaurant. (Note the alligator on the roof!)

Daytona Speedway had a tire testing day at their new track and it was opened free to the public. The guys were quite excited to hear those engines roar...it was
definitely a "guys" day....

It was interesting to see .... and the best part for Joyce and I was on the way home,
they let us do a little shopping at Home Goods and Kirkland's....
Now we're at home, packing for our trip home to Maine for Christmas.....

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..(no way)

It's been another busy month.
Guy had a Birthday. We celebrated by going out to dinner....
"anywhere you want to go" I said....and where did he choose?
Red Lobster!!!
It was a great meal, reminded us a little bit of home.Guy volunteers at the Elks every Tuesday night.
A couple of weeks ago, a group of us headed down to partake in one of the meals he helps put on....Here he is dressed in his "uniform".
Arlyn, Marie, Linda, John, Carolyn and I sat while he waited on us.
Kinda of a special treat for me...

Now, this is pretty sad....this is my "Christmas Tree"..

Marie and I went on a shopping spree at Old Tyme Pottery where I bought a couple of Snowman dishes....

Guy decorated our half of the balcony. It looks pretty at night with the lights shining...

A real wreath from LL Bean makes it feel like a little
bit of home.

Last Sunday we had our Christmas Beach Party.
It was the last day we enjoyed warm weather.

Got a package in the mail and we were excited to find our friend Steve sent us a couple of "grabbers". These are fantastic when we do the Beach Cleanup. The last thing you want to do is reach in the bushes for papers or trash....you just never know what's crawling around in there....Thanks so much Steve..

He also threw in a couple of pedometers.
It has given me incentive
to walk every day...My goal is to walk at least 10,000 steps a day.

The Grabbers!

Guy testing the Grabbers strength...

Last Saturday we watched Cocoa Beach's annual Christmas Parade.
It was pretty fun...and lasted over an hour.
Look closely and you will see the neatest Christmas Hat.
Click on the picture to get a closer look.

These Segways are a popular way of transportation down here.
They rent them by the hour or by the day.
I am so fascinated with them, I am looking for an excuse to ride one.
Of course, Santa is the highlight of the parade.

Saturday evening was a little chilly, but with a heavy sweatshirt, gloves and a hat, we were comfortable.
After the parade, we came home to pick up our friends, and off we went to watch the Boat Parade.
There were over 30 boats all decorated in lights, with music
and in the Holiday spirit. I was disappointed most of the pictures didn't come out, and the ones that did, really didn't do it justice.

We all came back to the Condo for drinks and snacks after.
Here is Christine all wrapped up in Guy's quilt, still shivering from the cold.
Christine and Bill

Today, we drove down to Viera to do a little shopping, but mostly just wandering around the stores enjoying the Holiday decorations and Christmas spirit. Had lunch at Mim's Cafe and then came home.
We're getting a little restless, waiting for Friday and our flight home.

Decorating the Grounds

This was the 47th Annual Art Festival Weekend in Cocoa Beach.
There were over 250 booths of paintings, photography, woodworks, jewelry and sculptures. Lots of food and drink booths, along with several bands.
This was quite a unique idea.
Its called a Porta Party...a huge tracker trailer rolls in,
the sides open up and down drops the sit down bar, along
with a couple of large TV's.
It was the hot spot of the festival, for sure.

Saturday afternoon we volunteered at the Coke trailer.

It was a busy weekend....they also decorating the grounds at SL.
Guy worked Friday morning, then helped out at the food booth
for the Elks at the Festival. Come nightfall, he was exhausted!
Sunday they finished decorating, ending up at the ClubHouse.

Hanging the large wreath inside...

Hooray! It's perfect and the lights all work..
Great job guys....

We all ended up at Fishlips for a well deserved dinner.
Good job guys.....It looks wonderful
