We left the marina early Monday morning. Seas were 4'-6' every 9 seconds, with a westerly wind. It was a very rough ride. The inside cabin really took a beating...the couch moved away from the wall and landed halfway across the living room.
Just before we got to "Chunk of Pork", we hit a submerged object which knocked out our starboard engine. The seas were heavy and throwing us around. Guy went down to check and make sure we weren't taking on water while I tried my best to steer the boat and keep it under control.
Thankfully, we weren't taking on water and Guy was able to restart the engine, kicking it in reverse to see if we'd picked up any lines in the prop. Negative! so we proceeded slowly at clutch speed toward home.
Home port sure looked welcoming to us... The journey took us over 5 hours...We had a drink, some lunch and then the cleanup began.
Trying to help, I stood our Palm tree up that had been abused during our voyage - only to have it fall over into the drink. I was able to retrieve the trunk, but the top fell to the bottom. One of our neighbors, seeing our dilemma, grabbed his fishing pole and with his 50# line was able to fish it out.
We won't be going out for another ride soon until we can get a diver down to check out what damage occurred. ($$$$$) and we'll be sure to check the marine forecast before we leave the dock again.....
