It's been awhile since I've updated the blog...summer goes flying by so fast I just can't seem to keep up with everything that's going on. The weather has been rainy, dreary, cloudy, cool...well, you get the picture! Maybe the Fall will give us some sunshine and warmer temps.
When I moved to Maine back in 1980, I got a job at GBF and formed some wonderful friendships with these great gals! We lost one of our group this year to cancer and all miss her.....Anita was such a super person, and she will never be forgotten.
We usually work on our own projects, and will knit a blanket or two during the year for Project Linus.
I have learned so much from these ladies....they are always ready to stop and help one another out with a problem or suggestion.
When I joined the group a couple of years ago, all I could do was knit scarves....with their help, I've knit almost a dozen sweaters and several afghans.

Last Thursday, Diane & Rick Mello along with their daughter Lindsay and her friend Cassie drove up from Rhode Island to spend a couple of days in Maine.
Diane was Guy's Customer Service Rep when he was at Ameriscource Bergen and still raves about how wonderful and resourceful she was.
Friday morning we took them on a scenic Lighthouse tour around the area. Guy offered to go by boat, but they aren't comfortable on the water, so we toured by car.
We were so lucky the weather finally took a turn for the best and we actually saw the sun! Here we are walking on top of the bunkers overlooking Casco Bay.
We went out with Bill & Kathy Smith

The object of the Poker Run is to get to the 7 designated marinas in the area, pick up a card and then turn them in at DiMillo's to see who has the best poker hand. There were some pretty good prizes this year...3 of them.....we came in 4th!:(
Each marina dresses up and the best costumes/themes get a prize.
These are the Vegas Ladies!
note: even the dog was in costume...
Another beautiful day and the harbor was full of boats....
most of them out to see the races....
They sure churn up the wake.....
see who is the most powerful...
She's a beauty....

Next week they go back to school and are getting a break from their Daycare to hang out with their Grandparents before their school routine begins.
For those who are not familiar with geocaching, it is a high-tech
treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices.
For more info...go to www.geocaching.com
Above is a picture of the printout instructions.
In a nutshell, the object of the game is to locate the "treasure" and leave another one in its place, then report back in via computer later as to the findings and leave new clues.

You've had a busy summer! It looks like you've got a great bunch of friends who share in your "craftiness" . . . and isn't it great that you've expanded from knitting just scarves!
Someday, if we ever get back your way, we definitely want to see the lighthouses via water rather than road, that's for sure!
