We're finally enjoying warm Florida weather

Last week was a cold one....but we're finally back enjoying the nice warm
Florida weather we came down here to experience.
We really feel bad for those back up North who are shoveling
and stoking the stove...(we really are!)
Last Saturday we picked up Jerry & Joyce in Port Orange and headed
to Ocala for the annual SPHS Reunion.
All of the classes who are wintering in Florida join together
for an afternoon of food and fun.....Eddie Jensen's on the left, Guy, Joyce & Jerry Betz,
don & Gennie Williams
Eddie, Joni and Joyce

The Host and Hostess of this gathering announced
this would be the last year they would plan the gathering
and asked for volunteers for next year.

I see some movement in the water.....

Oh my! I think Guy caught one:)

It's a beauty! and he's pleased as punched...
It's catch and release, so guess I'll still have to cook dinner...
We took out our bikes for a little spin...well, hopefully, not actually a spin!
We ride for about 20 minutes at a time....
trying to build up our leg muscles ...
Ready..Set..Go!!!

He's got his balance now....

And here he comes.....
We're still experiencing difficulty with our Internet
We can receive emails, but sometimes have trouble
answering them.....
Hopefully our troubles are behind us and we can update our blog
on a more timely basis...
Stay safe everyone:)

Mannie & John Janasec from So. Portland

visited us this afternoon. They are spending their Winter in Titusvile

(about 15 miles to the north of us). They came for lunch and we

spend a couple of hours catching up.... We've been experiencing some cold weather the last couple of days....

I know it hasn't been as cold as it has been in Maine

but for Florida, it's been c-o-l-d.....

Guy's Christmas present arrived and he was so anxious to put it together....

Getting out the tool box was a little scary.....

but it went together nicely, with no profanities expressed....

He's already imagining what it will look like on Sea-bbatical

this summer....
Sunday we walked over to Jetty Park to watch the

Disney ship leave....
Tuesday, I went with the "Lunch Bunch" to a Tea Party

at the Hortage House in Cocoa. It was a bit disappointing

We were looking forward to a bit more elegance....

But it was still fun.....

Saturday, Jan. 17th

Happy 20th Birthday Meg!

Finally...after a 4 day delay, the United Launch Alliance Delta 4 Heavy Rocket

took off. We had a birds eye view...only about 5 miles away (as the crow flies)

from the rooftop of our Condo.

This is the most powerful of America's unmanned launched vehicle .

It is a secret National Reconnaissance Office Payload.

Absolutely breathtaking....you could feel the building shake when

it took off.....

After spending a week with us, Meg left last Thursday....

Back to the snow and cold and then back to school.....

Monday we went to Epcot

Thanks to a friend of Guy's....we were able to get 3 free passes to Epcot Center.....and what a great time we all had:)
The first thing we did was get in line to ride "Soarin"
and then went right back in the line to ride it again!
Here we are at the Canadian Pavillon..
after watching their amazing 360 degree movie, we wandered around
the grounds and ended up under the Totem Pole.
Lots of beautiful flowers....

We had lunch in Japan
It was so much fun watching our meal being prepared on the 500 degree grill
right in front of us.
Here they sliced onions and made a volcano...(if you look closely, you can see the steam coming out of the top)

Our chef put on quite a show for us....Meg and I make a toast!

We all started out using chopsticks, but Meg was
the only one who finished her meal using them....
Eating rice, was the challange!
Thankfully, GF switched to his fork....
he eats so slowly anyway, we still would be there while he was finishing his meal....
Love to see all the creations they can make...
We took the bus over to what was formerly known as MGM
and were so disappointed....Took in 3 different rides/attractions
and none of them were worth talking about.
Then rode the monorail to checkout Magic Kingdom
but couldn't find the right train, so back to Epcot
and another ride on Soarin'
Stayed for the fireworks and headed home at 9:30...
We were sooo tired.....and had a wonderful time

Kennedy Space Center

Meg had a great idea for GF....Why not start a Car Washing Club? So many of the men around here spend an ungodly amount of time washing, polishing and cleaning their cars..why not form a club and do it together? They could all meet at the Sprinklers, drive through together then get out, dry, polish and inspect their vehicles at the same time, helping the next guy when yours get done!

Here's a sample of what GF does everyday....He's with one of our neighbors, Terry.
Hey Guy, I think you missed a spot here..... Great eye Terry....I'll get my cloth and repolish that whole area.....

Saturday Guy and I went for a walk and saw more peacocks...
I can't believe the population there is around here...
People feed them anything from ritz crackers, cheerios to dry cat food.....
They can fly, but usually don't....just hang around you....they make me nervous, so I
usually keep my distance....
We're hoping we can get a picture of one with it's feathers opened up...
They are so beautiful....

Sunday we went to Kennedy Space Center...
Along the way, we spotted a gator...
This is the Vehicle Assembly Building and one of the largest buildings in the world.
It is 525 feet tall
716 feet long
518 feet wide
It encloses 129,4280,000 cubic feet in space

We took in one of the two IMAX movies.
Doesn't he look smashing in the 3D glasses?
and of course, so do we(??)

Guess who's training to be the next Astronaut???
Our tour took in the original Command Central..
how outdated it was, compared to today's technology
This is Pad 39B where the next shuttle will take off from

Never a dull moment...

Friday was another beautiful sunny Florida day...
Temps got as high as 70, not as warm as it has been, but still nice.....
We took a walk on the beach and Meg got her feet in the Ocean....
a little on the cool side, but a wee bit warmer than the Ocean in Maine....
This time it was MY fault! As soon as I shut the door,
I remembered I didn't have the key....
sooooo GF took out his trusty pocket knife and ripped the screen off
the window in the kitchen...(thankfully, I had left it unlocked)

now we knew darn right well that GF was not going to fit through
that window....so we were darn glad Meg was here to save the day!

Guess GF will be taking a trip to the Hardware store
for screens and another spare key

Breaking into condos takes a lot out of a gal!
Time for a little nap!
Here are a couple of the peacocks that walk around the neighborhood...

Those birds are everywhere....
Stopped and had lunch at "Coconuts on the Beach"
one of our old stomping grounds last year.
Stopped and checked out Park Place where we stayed last year..
Then we took a ride down to Patrick AFB to buy tickets
and a few more provisions.....
After dinner we all enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub...
