There goes March.....

Betty and Mel flew down on the 13th of March to spend another couple of weeks in Florida...they stopped here on their way to Hollywood..the day was beautiful so we headed down to Jetty Park for a walk along the pier....

lots of Pelicans sunning themselves on the rocks, waiting for dinner to be caught...

then took a ride down to the locks to see if we could catch a glimpse of a Manatee or Dolphin......(no luck)

Dinner after spending the day touring the area..

Wednesday we decided to take the Blue Dolphin Tourboat out of Merritt Island....it was almost a 3 hour ride down the river and through the locks

you could see Mel and Guy's eyes glass over when they spotted this boat waiting to go through the locks....I'm sure they were both thinking about the boats they sold last Fall....just wishing------

the day was perfect for a leisurely ride.....

different perspective going through the locks vs standing by watching...

we passed by one of our favorite restaurants...Fishlips!

Mel treated us to a couple of adult beverages after the ride....

Thursday, we took a ride over to the National Seashore....

in the evening, we had dinner at Fishlips!

watching all the cruise ships and other boats are always fun to watch...

too close for comfort!

Friday morning they left for Hollywood and that evening

we attended the Magician Show at the Club...he was pretty good and quite a sense of humor....

audience participation is always a hoot!

(as long as your not the one called on)

Saturday we had Beach Cleanup and on Sunday we decided to take a ride down to Vierra to see the Model homes they were advertising in the paper...only Vierra turned out to be at Palm Bay (which is about 40 miles from the Cape)

We both fell in love with this model...very reasonably priced and even with all the upgrades they offered, it would be well under our budget.

but.....it is too far away from everything and especially all the friends we have made.

The kitchen (and sewing room) are high on my list of features and this kitchen would be to die for....believe me, I would have a place for everything in this room......It was a 4 bed, 2 bath home....

I bought this silicone bakeware set at the Christmas Tree Shop and brought it to Fl. with me because I love to bake and thought with all the entertaining we do, it might come in handy....well, I was right!

I volunteered to make desert for the monthly Elks dinner and decided it would be neat to do something a little different.....

Little did I know at the time, that there would be almost 70 people to feed....I spent the entire day baking, one cake at a time....

the bakeware set comes in 3 pieces....2 cake mixes are made per cake...

the piece on the left is put on top of the cake so it will leave an indentation

in the cake for the filling....

this cake was a "Boston Cream Pie" cake....used vanilla pudding for the filling.....

making the genache for the frosting....

here are a couple of the "cupcakes"...each Cupcake ended up feeding about 10 people!

Guy helps cook and serve at these dinners...oh yeah, and he washes dishes too! He recruited about 30 people from Solana for this particular meal...it was the biggest group that the Elks had feed in 3 years!

(good timing on my part, to volunteer to make desert, heh?)

Thursday, we attended an Appreciation Dinner (good timing)

the Elks hosts every year. We gathered at the Lobster Shanty in Cocoa Beach where I had the best New England Haddock I've had all year...

Actually it was the first and only Haddock I've had this year and it was perfect:)

Sunday afternoon we hosted a Farewell party for 3 couples from Maine and another from Pa. who will be leaving at the end of the month...

Joe and Joe

Brian

Wednesday we were invited downstairs to have dinner at Joe and Pat's.

Cheers!

Ran some errands on Thursday and stopped at Grill's on the River for a quick bite to eat.....thought the decor was kinda cute....

On Saturday, March 31st, we are leaving on Norwegian Sun for a 7 night Western Caribbean Cruise.

We've been watching the "last minute cruise deals" website and finally found a "great deal", so decided to go for it! and then the Cruise Line called last week and offered us another deal we couldn't refuse, so we have been upgraded to a Suite....right at the bow of the ship on the 8th deck, under the Bridge....so we're looking forward to leaving our Retirement Life and will be going into Vacation Mode for a week....

Life is Good:)
