Look what greeted us when we arrived home!!

First of all, I have to show you what the garage looked like when we emptied the Van!! We sure needed to bring all this stuff...yeah right!! Next year we will definitely travel lighter... We pulled into our driveway about 1:30 Saturday afternoon and this is the sight that greeted us!
Guy being a dedicated Pats fan, instantly knew his pal Jim was responsible for putting the Giants Super Bowl victory pennant on the front door!!!

Note the flammingo in the tree.....and the For Sale sign on the front lawn!

Then we went inside!

Please note the dining room chair in the shower stall, along with the beer can!

Doesn't the kitchen look spiffy??

Even my Craft Room was not spared! There were beer cans all over the yard..and I wonder who drank all that Miller Lite???

Julie and Paul said Jim and Pat did it.....and of course, Jim and Pat said Julie and Paul were responsible!! I think they all shared in the prank!!!
and
see!!!
Here's a picture

From Delaware to New Jersey on Thursday

We drove from Williamsburg, of course, stopping in Yorktown so Guy could revisit his past with the Coast Guard there. A lot of the things looked the same, but after 20+ years, a lot had changed also.

Arriving in Lewes, Delaware we missed the Ferry by 1/2 hour so killed a couple of hours walking around the beach area. There was a nice little Irish Pub there where we had a brew and a bite to eat.

Arrived in Cape May, New Jersey about 9PM and drove over to The Star Inn where we spent the night. It's amazing how technology is....I had made the reservations while sitting in the Van when we were on the beach. This Inn is adorable. We had to climb up 3 flights of narrow stairs to reach our room . We took a walk around the area last night and hope we can spare a few minutes to do it in the daylight on Friday.

Wednesday in Colonial Williamsburg

The Print Shop
We were at Colonial Williamsburg's bright and early this morning...dressed in layers and armed with umbrellas....it was cool again and drizzly......but by noon, we were carrying our sweatshirts and wishing we had brought our sunglasses. We visited as many exhibits as we could...it was a tiring day, but glad we did it.

The Blacksmith Shop

Millinery Shop

Horse and Carriage

Oxen
General Washington addressing the troops

Fife and Drum marching up the street, with crowds following...

I got to visit The Quilt Shop which had some amazing quilts for sale....the most expensive one I saw was $7950.00. It was all hand quilted and so beautiful...wish I could have taken a picture of it.

Our next stop is in Williamsburg

Left the Outer Banks this morning and landed in Williamsburg this afternoon. Went to the Visitors Center, got our tickets and started out on our tour. Again, the weather was against us and we only managed to do the 30 minute orientation walking tour and sit through George Washington's speech. Tomorrow we'll get up early, put layers of clothing on and seriously concentrate on touring Williamsburg.

Monday we're in Kitty Hawk, N.C.

We spent a good part of the day at the Kitty Hawk Museum. See the monument in the background...that is where the Wright Brothers first took flight in a glider. The middle marker to the marker in front of the photo is their first motorized flight of 120' , which took 12 seconds.
The rest is History!
Replica of the original motorized aircraft.

I can't stop taking pictures of these huge, beautiful homes......they're all sitting on the beach....I wonder what's going to happen to them when a hurricane blows through??

We took a very short walk on the beach....It was soooooo cold. Notice the little boy to the left who was busily digging a hole...not sure where he thought he'd end up..

Bodie Lighthouse....

Elizabethian Gardens. It was amazing to see so many beautiful flowers, trees, bushes blooming in such cold weather. It was cold and drizzling so we didn't spent as much time as we would have liked walking through the maze of gardens.

"BREW THRU'S" What a marketing idea!!! You drive through, pick out the beer you want, pay for it and your on your way!!

From Cedar Point to Kitty Hawk

Sunday we took the ferry at Cedar Point over to Orkacoke. North Carolina subsidizes their ferry fleet...it only cost us $15.00 to cross over to Orkacoke...the trip took 2 1/4 hours. This little town must be bustling in the summer...a picturesque little village on the ocean that thrives on tourist business. We stopped in at Howard's, an Island favorite, for a bit of lunch and soaked up some of the local flavor.
While we were crossing on the ferry, Guy managed to find a Coast Guard 47' patrol boat....

We still marvel at all these gorgeous homes....where does all this money come from??

From Okracoke, we took the (free) 45 minute ferry to Cape Hatteraus....and I might add, it's freezin' here......I had to kick off my sandals and find shoes and socks in my suitcase to keep my feet warm....Tomorrow we'll be digging deep for warmer jackets:(

As we drove along, the sand was blowing across the highway....looks a little like snow doesn't it???

Saturday in North Carolina

This is what we're dealing with now....Every time we stop and pickup a brochure or map, we laugh and wonder if we have room for it....but we somehow keep finding little nooks and crannies where this "stuff" can be chucked until we get home. Saturday we landed in Wilmington, N.C. thinking this is where we'd spend a day or two....but the weather was cool and misty and not very inviting, so we walked around the little town, had some lunch and then drove on to Morehead City.
This is my first visit to North Carolina and I was excited to be here......but brrrrrrrrrrrr it's cold here.....just a small reminder of what's to come.

Enjoying Myrtle Beach on Friday

The day started out cool and dreary, but by noon the sun was out and temps were in high 70's.
We walked across the road over to Broadway At The Beach, which is over 350 acres of shops, restaurants and attractions.

We went to the IMAX theatre and saw a 45 minute film about the Grand Canyon.

We couldn't resist taking these "touristy" shots....

By the middle of the afternoon, we were hot and thirsty!! The perfect time and place to sit, relax and sip on a Mango Marguerita.

Aren't these the coolest chairs???
We went to "Rioz's" for dinner. It's a Brazilian Steakhouse with a unique idea. Rioz features different cuts of beef, pork, lamb and chicken. When you are ready for your entree, you signal your Gaucho (waiter) to bring skewers of sizzling meats right to your table by placing the green side of the provided round token face-up on your table. Flip to the red side when you wish to stop...If you decide you want more, simply flip back to green. It was a little on the pricey side, but delicious!
We went to another show tonight at the same place....most of the same musicans were in a musical called "Good Vibrations". It was excellent, playing music of the 60's, 70's and 80's.
That same dance team danced to "YMCA"....The entire place was hoppin'

Now we're sitting here with maps, trying to decide where our next stop will be......I'm going to check out Hotels.com to see what is available at a reasonable price.
We're hoping to be in New Haven, Conn (to visit Meg at school) either next Friday or Saturday.
Keep checking to see what our next adventure will be......only a week more and we'll be back at home facing reality square in the face.....YUK!
