Vermont Day

On Saturday, Don & Anita were scheduled to stop by on their way home from the Canadian Maritimes for a visit and lunch. Of course, Guy had a reason to be at the boat and told me to call him when they arrived and he would come home to join us. They arrived and I started calling him. After awhile we decided to just go over to the Salt Water Grille and left him a message for him to meet us there.....45 minutes later, we decided to just order without him.....15 minutes later he called to see when they would arrive?? He had forgotten to turn his phone on, so missed the luncheon part of their visit. He had a glass of iced water and then we left the restaurant and headed down to the boat to show the McFeeters his pride and joy!

Sitting under the palm tree, they look like they were in the tropics!

We said good-bye to Don & Anita and headed home.
Grandaughter Jenny and her boyfriend Ryan had just arrived from Vermont for a weeks vacation.

Later in the afternoon, we packed up food and headed ...where else??.. but down to the marina to have dinner on the boat.
From the bird's eye vantage point, Ryan spotted something floating in the harbor. It was a 2 liter bottle of soda, so Guy tried fishing it out with the boat hook.

That didn't work...so he untied the dingy and rowed out to fetch it...
Mind you....he was in the midst of cooking our dinner on the grill!
Almost got it!

Got it!

Label almost off..wonder what it is?

Brisk Iced Tea! What a catch!

Note: dinner still cooking (burning) on the grill!

By the time he rowed back, secured the dingy and got back aboard, the spareribs were cooked to a crisp! and all for a 2 liter bottle of iced tea that nobody wanted to drink....

Today another ship visited Portland...here is Grandeur of the Seas ready to back down and head to New York City. Lots of activity in the area...chartered sailboat, tugboat, dingy etc.

After our charred meal, we decided to take an evening cruise
Party Boat

What a crew!

Jenny enjoying the ride, wondering why everyone was looking at her....Sorry, Jenn..it wasn't you...it's the (stupid) palm tree that draws all the attention.
I mean, if you saw a boat go by with a palm tree on it, wouldn't you stop and stare??
It was a beautiful sunset

After we docked at the slip, the Cousins came across in their dingy.

A band was playing over on the Portland Waterfront, so Andrew took Jenn and Ryan across to check it out!

Great post, Joni. I love the pictures (sans the "stupid" palm tree!). I even have the one with the sunset behind the lighthouse on my desktop right now. Beautiful!

(My quilt top hasn't been quilted yet, but I'm a "machine" quilter. Being a full-time RVer like our friends the Thompsons I haven't the space to hand quilt. But I love'em all!)
