A dear friend passes....

I remember the day they brought him home.....

it was 16+ years ago....

he was so energetic, nothing but a big fluff ball!

so full of mischief, dragging around the kids mittens, hats, anything he could chew on....loving us all unconditionally..

he was my Grandog, and he was such a part of my life for all those years.

I brought him to the Vet, I brought him on walks, I babysat him when the Family was out of town...I always had a box of biscuits and a bag of tennis balls for him when he came to visit.

And now he is gone...

I miss him...

he was my friend...

I mourn for him just like I would a person....

The last day of his life, Julie and Paul brought him to the Vet.

he had a brain tumor...

they could have prolonged his life, but chose quality over quanity.

the right decision to make.

They brought him home to say goodbye to his Family

for those who loved him.

He did all of his favorite things that last day....

he swam, he chased rocks and sticks in the water

he had ice cream

and peanut butter

and M&M's

you led a great life Zeus...

That's why we call you Man's Best Friend

because you were....

you will always hold a special spot in my heart.

Good-bye good buddy....

I turned 70 this year!

How could this even be possible? I turned 70 this year!

Andrew brought me a beautiful bouquet of rosesanother bouquet from Meghan

and still another from Betsy and Amy

(sorry picture didn't come out)

Julie decided this milestone couldn't go unnoticed and threw me

an unbelievable "Surprise Party"

it was held at her house on Crescent Lake in Raymond...

the day turned out to be perfect, in many ways...

the weather was warm and sunny...

Apparantely the Family gathered at her place the day before and

set up the tents, decorated picture boards ....

they did a superb job....

waiting here for me to arrive....

my first recollection as I got out of the car....

was seeing Chad, my Grandson from Vermont and wondering

what he was doing here.....

the day was actually quite a blur...

it seemed to unreal....

seeing people I certainly never expected to be at Julie's house...

they even had a Disc Jockey

the cake (even though this picture was upside down)

was unbelievable....

Lighting the fire pit was actually worse than lighting all the candles on my cake! We all held our breath while the flames rose up to the tree tops....it was a scary moment for sure....

what a perfectly beautiful spot

the grandkids retreated to the garage for a jam session...

There were over 350 pictures taken that day...

I've tried to highlight the day, and then accidently errased a few of them while downloading to the blog....

Thank you so much for all who made this day possible....

It was a super day, seeing all the friends in my life who make it as wonderful as it is.
Thank you especially to my Family who worked so hard to make it happen...and to Julie (and Guy) who made it happen!

I love you all
